Free Job Interview Preparation now available for Product Managers

“One small step for Pramp, one giant leap for PMs” — anonymous

I’m very happy to share with you that after 3 years of providing software engineers with a platform to practice live technical interviews for free, we’re now providing interview preparation for Product Managers as well.

When we launched Pramp, we were determined to solve a problem that we faced as software engineers — the lack of good tools to prepare for technical interviews. Fortunately, we managed to create a community of amazing, like-minded peers, who helped each other prepare for technical interviews at a scale that we could never have achieved on our own. Over 100,000 interviews have been completed on Pramp to date.

While we’re still working hard on making the product better for software engineers, we received constant reinforcement from you guys, suggesting that the core value of Pramp is the amazing community we created, allowing peers to help each other. Knowing that this quality isn’t unique to software engineering, we’ve been looking for the next audience that would benefit the most from using Pramp. It was only natural to choose product management, considering the fact that many PMs have a technical background and work closely with software engineers on a daily basis.

Similar is not identical though, and we had to understand which features of our current product would be valuable in PM interviews and which are missing. We’ve spoken with dozens of PMs, asking them about their personal interviewing experience, and then incorporating that knowledge into the experience we’re now making available on Pramp.

The core assumption guiding us through this process is the fact — which we established early on — that interviewing requires a different skill set than the skills needed for your day-to-day work. Moreover, it’s likely the most profitable skill you can learn, leveraging your skills to get the job you want and deserve. While software engineers now have tools and products at their disposal to prepare for interviews, there are still few options available for product managers.

It’s always a big step for startups to release a new major feature, all the more when approaching a new audience, making it a product within a product. We probably won’t get it right off the bat, but we’re hoping that the insights we gathered through the years about interviewing in general, and technical interviews in particular, reflect in the offering for Product Managers as well. We’ll be happy to hear from you about your experience using Pramp for product management interview preparation. Please shoot us an email at team@pramp.com with any thought or suggestion, and invite your PM friends to start practicing today!

We look forward to leveling the playing field for product managers around the world hoping to land their dream job.

Matan, Pramp’s Head of Product, and Pramp’s team.
